You’ve swiped right, you’ve exchanged numbers, and now it’s time for the first date.

Whether you’re looking for love or just hoping to get laid, making a good impression on your date is key.

One of the best ways to do that is by having great conversations. So, what are some good conversation starters for a first date?

1. What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you recently?

We ask this question because we want to get to know you better. And what better way to get to know someone than to find out what makes them laugh? Laughter is, after all, the best medicine. 

2. Do you have any siblings or were you an only child growing up?

We ask to get to know questions like “do you have any siblings or were you an only child growing up” for a few reasons. First, it helps us to get a sense of what your family is like. Secondly, it gives us a sense of how you relate to others. 

3. Who are some of your favorite musicians right now?

We all have our favorite musicians, the ones who get us dancing or help us get through tough times.

We also want to know what kinds of music you like so we can better understand your taste and what drives your passion. By knowing your favorite musicians, we can get a glimpse into what makes you tick and what brings you joy.

Where you travel says a lot about your interests, your sense of adventure, and your budget. It can also be a great icebreaker, especially if you’re traveling to a place that’s off the beaten path. 

5. Do you prefer summer or winter? Or maybe you like both/neither?

Most people have a preference when it comes to the seasons, and this question is a great way to get to know someone. 

For some, summer is the best time of year. The warm weather and long days are perfect for spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for a swim or just enjoying a picnic in the park.

We ask this question for a few reasons. 

First, we want to get to know you better. Pets can tell us a lot about a person’s personality and interests.

From get-to-know-you games to first dates, the question “Where did you grow up?” is ubiquitous. And it’s not hard to see why. 

After all, where we come from shapes who we are in a multitude of ways. It can impact our values, our beliefs, and even the way we speak. 

Asking someone about their hometown is a way of getting to know them on a deeper level. And in a world where we are often bombarded with surface-level interactions, that deeper understanding can be refreshing.

This question can be quite revealing, as it encourages people to share something that they may not ordinarily share.

It also allows people to get a glimpse of what makes the other person unique. 

19. What’s your favorite movie?

It’s a way to get a conversation started and get an idea of what kind of movies the other person likes. We can then recommend other movies that they might enjoy or find common ground in our shared love for a particular movie. 

This question also tells us something about the person’s taste and whether they are more into blockbusters or independent films. 

20. How would your friends describe you?

it gives us some insight into your personality. 

How you see yourself and how others see you can be two very different things, and it’s interesting to see how others perceive you. 

Finally, it’s just a fun question! It’s always interesting to hear what others have to say about us, and it can be a great way to get to know someone better. 

21. What kind of personality do you think we have in common?

since we all have personality traits that make us unique, asking about personality can be a fun way to learn more about the people we interact with on a daily basis.
